Gonna go buy a house real quick....BRB.

So we finally found a winner winner chicken dinner!  Yay! We now have a a place that's all ours!  These pictures were stolen from the real estate website so they're not all great but you can at least see the gist of it! I'll take some pictures once we get a key and everything! The house is very updated, so there are not any major projects to tackle.  Meaning we don't have to remodel a bathroom or anything huge like that. We will be adding a back door, but that will come later. There are plenty of projects I have in mind for this place and I will definately be tackling the easy ones first.
So here is the basic layout if the house.  I'm not an architect so this is not at all to scale in any shape or fashion.  I just drew it so the pictures would make a bit more sense.  The black block shapes are the cabinets in the kitchen and the small entryway.  I realize just now that I have no doors, so you'll just have to use your imagination! Sorry!
As you can see there is a good bit of space for everything.  I love the open feel of the house.  There is no wall where the living room and kitchen/dining room meet, so the rooms are really one big area. It is a 3 bedroom and 1 bath. I know I was against the one bath, but we are going to add on so there will eventually be two.

Here is the kitchen with brand new cabinets! I won't have to paint them! I will have to go hardware shopping, along with shopping for a new sink.  That one is really shallow and kind of dingy. The stove we will replace with out own, because that one is a bit crusty, which means it's gross.

Obviously we need to get a new fridge.  I, for one, am thrilled about this! New fridge means more space than the one we have and hopefully an icemaker! I'm tired of filling up trays!  The bulky looking cabinets to the right of the fridge opening  is a pantry! Yes it's small but it's an improvement from no pantry.

This is the back wall of  the kitchen.  There is no back door to this house, but there will be eventually! wink. wink.  That window may turn into a doorway to a sunroom which will have a back door.  The cabinets you see are just there for the entryway from the carport.  They're kind of awkward.  I plan on putting a bench area with hooks for jackets and such there in the near future.

This is the front door into the living room.  As you can see the walls are all painted a neutral beige color, which I will change down the road.  For now they can stay.  I plan on doing some stenciling and a frame wall in here!

I'm pretty sure this is the master bedroom.  Like I said, these photos aren't that great but you get the jist of it.

This is bedroom 2 I believe.  There is alot of natural light in this room so it will probably be a makeshift studio of some kind.

Here we have le toilet.  There is new tile around the tub, along with new fixtures for the shower.  There is however a black countertop in there.  You can see the corner of it in the picture.  It's black with gold and silver glitter.  Yeah I said glitter. That's gonna have to get updated pretty soon.  It does NOT go with the rest of the house.

But, thats the mini tour.  I'm gathering ideas and projects as we speak.  I'm packing up alot of stuff too so I'll be updating way more often now.  I actually have something to blog about again, so be on the lookout. I'm working on getting Chris to make me a wine bottle chandelier for the kitchen.  That will be coming up soon (if he cooperates).

Later gaters!

Something new...is better old?

So I'm going to "antique" a chair to use as a prop and decor. I wanted to test it out on a 25 cent frame I had first.  Just in case this didn't work at all.   I found a tutorial and decided it was easy enough so I hoofed it down to the Wal Mart and got some supplies.  Here's how it all went down:
All you need is a candle (just for the wax), a can of spray paint, and your item to be antiqued.  Here's the fun part.  Rub candle wax where you ant to see the old come through.

Areas like the edges and corners look best.

I got a bit carried away, because I wasn't sure if it was going to work or not, so I pretty much covered the frame in wax.
Next I took my spray paint:
and went to town!

Of course where the wax was looked like my frame grew warts,

Anyway, after much impatient waiting finally I got to scrape away the wax!

Really, that's all you do.  Scrape off the wax with something you don't mind getting gross.  I used an old cookie dough shaper.  And after some serious scraping:

Ta Da!!! Yay!! A cool antiqued frame! Not bad for 25 cents huh? I'm seriously pumped to do the chair! I will share when I get the time!

What's in a house?

That which we call a house by any other name would still be a home.  Ok sorry for the cheesy Shakespeare reference but I can't help myself.  I though I would let y'all in on what we are looking for in a house, since we haven't found one yet and I cant blog about all the cute things we are doing to our non-existent-at-the-moment-house.  Here's our trailer sweet trailer covered in snow (sorry it's the only recent photo I have):

As you can tell it's just plain jane.  We don't want a plane jane house.  We have requirements that strictly prohibit any "plain-ness" when it comes to our future casa. There are alot of things to consider and here's a list of our requirements:

1. Laundry room.  I don't want a laundry cabinet that hides behind two doors in the kitchen (I've noticed waaay too many of these, right by the fridge i might add lol).

Granted, this one looks fairly organized, I just preferr a room.   I also don't want to keep my washer/dryer in the garage and freeze/sweat depending on the time of year while folding my clothes.  I'm amazed at the people who can do this, because I HATE the laundry with a passion and will certainly, therefore not make sacrifices to do it!  I need a room where I can fold, hang, and comfortably move clothes around.  I have a tiny room right now that you can barely open  the door to squeeze in and put some clothes in the washer. I'm dreaming of this bad boy:

2. Two +  bathrooms.  Ok what girl wants their guests (or their guests kids) using the same bathroom she keeps all her personal items in? Not me! I don't want people going through my stuff and seeing my shampoo and soap in the shower.  It just bugs me, not to mention if you have overnight guests who have to use the same bathroom to get ready in! Traffic jam!  I would much rather have a sweet little hallway bathroom that's free of my junk and has a nice roomy shower or tub for my guests to use.  Preferably an immaculate one lol.

3. Fenced in yard.  I have two dogs that like to run off.  Skynyrd is a hound and can get really distracted by smells, so he tends to just wander off and sniff everywhere.

Honey is a Morkie and she's all about the boys.  She's not fixed (we thought we might breed her later) and she will run off to find the boy dogs.

The only way to get them back is to pretend to go for a ride and honk the horn.  It's effective but I don't want to have to be paranoid that my dogs are gonna get hit.  They're like kids to me, big, furry kids.

4. 3 + Bedrooms.  Ok so this one is a bit more flexible, but we just really want a house with room! Eventually we will have kids and they will need a room, and we want an "office" where we can put our computer/junk.  Not that we're pack rats or anything, I would just like some extra storage space instead of a pile of junk with nowhere to go.

So that is the condensed list of requirements.  I feel like we're being a bit picky like a bad episode of House Hunters, but they are flexible! What do you think? Am I being a diva?

Barbie's Dream Home

So in the process of searching for a house, I found my dream home.  Three porches, open floorplan, huge kitchen and it's in a gated community! Unfortunately it's WAY out of our budget.  There's no harm in sharing it with you though.

Can you hear the angels singing?  I know. I know.  It's gorgeous, but alas... that's just not going to happen.  I can say though that I am looking forward to buying a seen-better-days home and updating it.  That's what I keep thinking when I browse the home websites.  I have so many ideas that float in my head! I need an outlet!
